But, hey, don't run off to start that business yet. You also need to consider competition.

Now that you have established that a need exist, how many businesses already attempt to fill that need?

what are they offering to customers to fill the need?

are their customers satisfied? Are they complaining?

what are they complaining about?

what proportion of their customers are complaining?

what are they doing about it?

is there a gap here you can latch on? Can you offer something significantly different that will more than fill their need?

how will you position your brand?

Once you get the need identification and product positioning right, you're set to go.

But before you start firing on all cylinders, there are a couple of things to think about.

1. How will you price your product?

2. How will you distribute it?

3. What is your target market?

4. What's your budget?

5. How will you fund your small business?

6. What's the pay back period?

7. How will you plug in the internet? (small business internet marketing)

You likely will have more than one small business idea. Use the factors discussed above to analyze each. And choose the most profitable option.
